THE
CARNIAN AREA
On the eastern/western
border of Friuli and near the Friulan Dolomite Nature Park,
the Carnian area is a little over a thousand square
metres/kilometres, therefore a small territory that,
however, encompasses many natural factors. There are two
thousand species of vegetation, about a thousand types of
mushroom and around fifty sorts of orchid. This is a unique
natural environment that is preserved through the
conservation work of local authorities and environmental
associations.
THE
GEMONESE AREA
The Gemonese area contains
some of the most charming and evocative towns of the Friuli
Venezia Giulia. Some of these are the walled town of
Venzone, Gemona del Friuli, with its medieval cathedral and
the butterfly village of Bordano with its butterfly house
and murales. These are only three of the incredible choices
available to the tourist.
THE
TARVISIANO AREA
An uncontaminated
environment, the Valcanale is one of the most culturally
mixed zones of the entire peninsular. The principle town of
this valley is Tarvisio, which is surrounded by the largest
pine forest of the whole of Italy. There are numerous
tourist attractions in the area, both in the naturalistic
or sporting sense and on a more cultural level.
SAN
DANIELE
The famous San
Daniele ham is produced in this town. The micro-climate of
the local area allows the ham to gain its delicate flavour
during the months of seasoning and care in the hands of the
skilled producers who carry on a thousand year old
tradition.
THE
COLLIO AND COLLI ORIENTALI AREA
Today, Collio
signifies, throughout the world, the best quality white
wines, such as Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay.
These excellent wines crown the vineyard production of
these lands. You cannot talk about “Colli Orientali
del Friuli” DOC wines without taking into account the
multiple aspects of this area that make it one of the most
fascinating of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The vineyards of
these hills have been the inspiration for a new name, that
of “The Park of Vines and Wine.”
